His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme Council Member, welcomed the Birzeit University (BZU) delegation on Saturday at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre. The delegation, led by Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, Chairperson of the University’s Board of Trustees, was greeted warmly by Sheikh Sultan.

Sheikh Sultan expressed admiration for the delegation's dedication in managing the university and enhancing its academic frameworks. He noted that such initiatives are vital for BZU to uphold its educational mission and continue serving Palestinian society effectively. He underlined the essential role of dedicated efforts in strengthening higher education and elevating the university’s status among Palestinian educational institutions.

The Ruler reaffirmed his commitment to supporting academic institutions in need, highlighting that the challenging circumstances faced by Palestinian students necessitate robust strategies to facilitate their education in a nurturing and safe environment.

Throughout the meeting, Sheikh Sultan received comprehensive information regarding BZU’s academic offerings. One of the oldest universities in Palestine, BZU provides over 170 programs across diverse fields like science, engineering, arts, business, law, and health, at undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional diploma levels.

Currently home to more than 13,000 students, Birzeit University is celebrated for its innovative contributions to scientific research, community engagement, and its robust academic reputation both regionally and globally.
