Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi, a member of the Federal National Council (FNC) Parliamentary Division to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Chair of the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, presided over a pivotal meeting during the 152nd Assembly of the IPU in Istanbul.
Hosted by Türkiye's Grand National Assembly, the meeting also featured Khalid Omar Al Kharji representing the UAE at this significant global parliamentary forum.
During the session, members assessed and approved the records from the previous meeting. They engaged in thorough discussions concerning a crucial draft resolution entitled “Building a Fair and Sustainable Global Economy.” This resolution emphasizes the essential role of parliaments in tackling international economic issues, which include minimizing trade protectionism, reducing tariffs, and combating corporate tax evasion.
Concluding with the formal ratification of the resolution, the meeting underscored the necessity for international parliamentary collaboration to advance economic justice, transparency, and sustainable development upon a global scale.
