Saudi Athletes Triumph with Eight Medals in Dubai at AYPG 2025

The Saudi delegation showcased their talent on the first day of the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, clinching a total of eight medals. On Wednesday, the team achieved a remarkable tally of one gold, five silver, and two bronze medals, marking a notable start to this prestigious event. The fifth edition of the AYPG commenced at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, attended by Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and head of the Saudi team. The ceremony saw the presence of Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, alongside Majid Rashed, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, and officials representing various Asian nations.

An outstanding performance by Saudi swimmers unfolded at the Hamdan Sports Complex, where Hussein Al-Rashed won a gold and a bronze medal, complemented by Ibrahim Al-Marzouki who added three medals to the haul. In the junior swimming category, Abdulrahman Asiri's silver medal further solidified the team’s swimming prowess. The weightlifting segment saw Saudi athletes bring home two silver medals thanks to Fajr Al-Smry and Talal Al-Balawi, emphasizing the nation’s burgeoning commitment to para sports.

During the vibrant opening ceremony, track and field stars Al-Baraa Al-Qarni and Motairah Al-Shammari proudly waved the Saudi flag. The event unites competitors from 35 Asian countries and features cultural displays that honor the history of Paralympic sports, complemented by traditional Emirati folk performances. This commendable start by the Saudi athletes underscores the country's increasing dedication to nurturing young talent and promoting excellence on the international stage.
