UAE Urges Caution: Avoid Travel to Ebola-Affected Regions

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a strong advisory urging its citizens to refrain from traveling to Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo), and South Sudan unless necessary. This recommendation arises from health concerns associated with the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) affecting these regions in East and Central Africa.

In a statement released on Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on its nationals to delay all non-essential trips to these countries and stay informed about the current Ebola outbreak.

According to the ministry, this precautionary advisory is part of broader efforts by the UAE government to safeguard the well-being of its citizens while abroad. Officials are vigilantly keeping track of the situation and offering direction to assist travelers in making educated decisions.

Citizens currently in Uganda, DR Congo, or South Sudan should adhere to strict safety protocols and exercise exceptional caution, following local health guidelines closely. The ministry has also encouraged individuals to stay vigilant and keep up with health updates regarding the disease.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded citizens in the impacted nations to enroll in the "Twajudi" service. This initiative enables UAE authorities to stay connected with expats and provide crucial support in emergencies.

Emiratis abroad are also reminded that they can reach out to the dedicated emergency hotline provided for urgent assistance if needed.

This travel warning is issued amidst ongoing efforts by health authorities in East and Central Africa to control Ebola outbreaks and limit further spread of the virus. Both governments and international health organizations are closely observing the situation and implementing health measures.

The UAE government reaffirms its commitment to the safety and wellness of its citizens and encourages travelers to adhere to official guidance when planning international journeys to affected locations.
