Severe Weather Warning Issued for Malaysia Tonight

Post by : Shakul

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe weather alert, advising residents in various states to brace for thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds. This advisory will be in effect until 9 PM as unstable atmospheric conditions continue to evolve across significant areas of the nation.

According to recent forecasts, parts of Kedah, such as Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu, are anticipated to experience significant rainfall coupled with thunderstorms. In Perak, districts including Kerian, Larut, Matang, and Selama are also under close observation due to intensifying storm activity.

The warning extends to eastern regions, where locations like Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu, as well as Lipis in Pahang, could see heavy rains and gusty winds. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution, particularly those in flood-prone or low-lying zones.

In East Malaysia, a considerable portion of Sarawak is likely to face adverse weather conditions. Areas including Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, Marudi, and Limbang may encounter thunderstorms which could lead to localized flooding and travel disruptions.

Significant rainfall is also predicted for Sabah. Regions such as Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan, Tawau, Sandakan, Kudat, and various locations along the West Coast are expected to experience heavy showers and strong winds tonight.

Meteorologists warn that thunderstorms can develop swiftly, bringing sudden downpours, lightning, and visibility issues. These conditions can interfere with road transportation, outdoor activities, and daily commutes, especially during peak travel times.

Authorities urge the public to stay informed via official weather updates and to take necessary precautions. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, secure loose items around their properties, and remain alert as severe weather continues to affect different regions of Malaysia.
