In an impressive showing, Aditya Dhar’s action-packed spy thriller Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, has claimed the title of the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2025. Released on December 5, the film has not just dominated the box office in India but has also captured significant international markets, officially crossing the impressive Rs 1000 crore mark.

Dhurandhar's remarkable run is evidenced by its continual success, even in its third week—a timeframe where similar films often see a drop in interest. The Christmas holiday acted as a catalyst for its earnings, with a stellar Rs 28.60 crore collected on the festival day itself, showcasing robust word-of-mouth and repeated viewership.

Impressive Weekly Gains

With an opening week collection of Rs 218 crore, Dhurandhar set a high bar from the start. Its sophomore week saw a substantial addition of Rs 261.5 crore, while analysts anticipated a decline in week three. Instead, the film defied expectations, amassing Rs 160.70 crore in the subsequent days, comfortably securing its place in the Rs 1000 crore club within just three weeks post-release.

For comparison, its nearest competitor this Christmas season, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, registered a mere Rs 7.25 crore net on its opening day, highlighting Dhurandhar’s overwhelming box office dominance.

A Resurgence for Ranveer Singh

Beyond its impressive financial performance, Dhurandhar has ignited conversations on social media and among industry insiders. Fans and critics are heralding it as a “Ranveer renaissance,” with many drawing parallels to his powerful performances in Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani. Singh's dynamic portrayal has been pivotal in providing the film with its emotional depth, resonating with audiences.

The film's ensemble cast has also contributed significantly to its success. Notably, Akshaye Khanna has gained recognition for an unexpected dance sequence set to Flipperachi’s FA9LA, which rapidly went viral. This follows a successful turn in Chaava earlier this year, marking a high point for the actor.

Dominating the Competitive Landscape

With its current earnings, Dhurandhar has surpassed Kantara Chapter 1, rendering it the top-grossing Indian film of 2025. Industry experts attribute its success to an impressive combination of scale, engaging storytelling, and star appeal.

In its bold vision and relentless pursuit of box office success, Dhurandhar has established a new standard for Bollywood hits. The filmmakers have already confirmed a second installment set for release in March 2026, promising to deliver even more action-packed drama and visual spectacles.
