Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has unveiled a substantial enhancement of Qatar’s sewage system from 2013 to 2025, showcasing notable advancements in capacity and operational efficiency.

Ashghal revealed that the sewage network's total length has ballooned by 207%, climbing from 2,836 kilometers in 2013 to an impressive 9,707 kilometers by 2025. This initiative demonstrates a steadfast commitment to accommodating rapid urbanization while delivering reliable and sustainable public services.

The revamped sewage infrastructure encompasses 3,326 kilometers of sewage network, along with 2,084 kilometers of treated sewage effluent (TSE) network, 494 kilometers of rising main pipelines, and 911 kilometers dedicated to house connections.

Moreover, the system now includes 79,348 drainage manholes and 165,924 surface water gullies, which bolster the nation's overall drainage and wastewater management capabilities.

Ashghal also reported considerable advancements in related facilities, with the sewage infrastructure now featuring eight wastewater treatment plants, 120 foul sewer pumping stations, 13 TSE pumping stations, and 71 groundwater and surface water pumping stations.

This significant expansion underscores Qatar’s ongoing dedication to developing modern infrastructure, promoting sustainable growth and enhancing public utility services.
