PureHealth convened a formal ceremony at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) to recognise emergency department personnel from the SEHA hospital network for their vital service to Abu Dhabi's healthcare system. The gathering counted His Excellency Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), and Shaista Asif, Group CEO of PureHealth, among senior health leaders and frontline staff in attendance.
More than 100 emergency physicians, nurses and allied support workers received acknowledgement for their continual commitment to life-saving care and rapid response in critical moments. PureHealth framed the initiative as a public reaffirmation of the central role emergency services play in preserving community health and advancing Abu Dhabi's standards of urgent care.
Dr. Salama Bin Rafeea, Acting Director of the Sector of Emergency Preparedness & Response at Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, described these teams as the true frontline of the health system. He highlighted how coordinated action through the Unified Medical Operations Command Centre (UMOC) accelerates interventions and often secures outcomes before patients reach definitive hospital care, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's standing in emergency preparedness and health innovation.
Eng. Mohammed Hassan Al Zaabi, Chief of Critical Infrastructure and Projects at PureHealth, praised ER staff as frontline guardians, noting their combination of technical skill, calm under pressure and compassionate care. He reiterated PureHealth's pledge to back and honour professionals who consistently exceed the call of duty in emergency settings.
All honourees were presented with personalised tokens of appreciation and recognition bonuses. The event also singled out 12 individuals with "ER Heroes of the Year" awards for exemplary contributions to emergency medicine and patient recovery.
Speakers shared case studies that illustrated the impact of prompt emergency action: one clinician identified a previously undetected brain lesion in a motor-accident victim, a diagnosis that changed the patient’s trajectory; another caregiver remained with a gravely injured child throughout treatment, providing sustained clinical and emotional support.
Through this recognition programme, PureHealth emphasised its strategic objective to cultivate clinical excellence, support emergency-care talent and enhance patient outcomes across Abu Dhabi and beyond. The company framed the awards as part of a broader commitment to fuse compassion with operational innovation so that every minute in an emergency counts.
