Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has successfully maintained a high public approval rating of 78%, despite a year fraught with economic pressures and student protests.
According to a recent survey conducted by independent pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia, only 20.8% of respondents expressed discontent with his administration. His anti-corruption strategies and social assistance initiatives, particularly the free-meals program for children, remain popular among the populace.
However, Prabowo faces criticism in certain areas, especially regarding political management, which garnered only 31% approval. His administration has been scrutinized for increasing military involvement in civilian affairs and for recent issues in the free-meals initiative, where some children reportedly fell ill. Additionally, economic growth has slowed, with third-quarter figures at 5.04%, marginally below the anticipated target of 5.2%.
Despite these challenges, a significant portion of the Indonesian population appreciates the concrete effects of Prabowo’s social programs, particularly in combating corruption and aiding less fortunate communities. His high approval ratings reflect a public preference for impactful initiatives over political discord.
