Pakistani-American Arrested Over University Shooting Plot

Post by : Raina Nasser

Luqmaan Khan, a 25-year-old Pakistani-born American, has been apprehended in the U.S. for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at the University of Delaware. The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) revealed a disturbing stockpile of weapons, ammunition, body armor, and a thorough manifesto that detailed his intentions to “kill all” and attain “martyrdom.”

Khan, who has resided in America since childhood, was arrested on November 24 after police found him in a public park late at night. A search of his vehicle revealed a .357 caliber Glock handgun, equipped with 27 rounds via a microplastic conversion kit that converted it into a semi-automatic rifle. Officers also seized three more loaded magazines, a Glock 9mm magazine, a ballistic vest, and a notebook outlining his attack plans.

In his notebook, Khan detailed additional weapons, attack methods, and strategies to evade law enforcement. It even named an officer from the University of Delaware Police Department and provided a layout of the premises with marked entry and exit points labelled “UD Police Station.” ABC 6 reported that phrases like “kill all” and “martyrdom” were prevalent, with authorities classifying the contents as “premeditated assault plans” featuring distinct “warfare techniques.”

While the exact motivation behind Khan’s alleged plot remains uncertain, he reportedly expressed to police that attaining martyrdom was “one of the greatest things you can do.” Post-arrest, the FBI raided Khan’s Wilmington home, recovering an AR-style rifle with a red-dot scope, a second Glock pistol modified into a fully automatic weapon that can fire 1,200 rounds per minute, eleven extended magazines, hollow-point ammunition, and another bulletproof vest. All firearms in his possession were unregistered.

Khan was officially charged with illegal possession of a machine gun on November 26 and remains in custody as federal investigations progress. Law enforcement has underscored the seriousness of this case, noting the quantity of weapons amassed and the detailed planning of the alleged attack.

This incident has heightened concerns regarding campus safety and the imminent threat of armed attacks in the U.S., underlining the necessity for proactive law enforcement and close monitoring of potential threats.
