Nu Holdings Ltd. (NU) showcased an impressive quarterly result, achieving earnings of $0.17 per share, which surpasses analysts’ predictions of $0.15. This figure denotes a significant rise from $0.12 per share reported the previous year, indicative of robust growth in its primary operations.
The earnings surpass not only marks a 13.3% positive deviation but also follows a previous period where Nu slightly outperformed estimates by 7.7%. Over the past twelve months, the company has outstripped consensus EPS estimates in two out of four quarters.
Investor enthusiasm was further fueled by revenue growth, as the fintech leader recorded $4.17 billion for the quarter ending September 2025. This amount exceeded the Zacks consensus estimate by 3.36% and marked a sharp increase from the $2.94 billion reported a year earlier. Nu’s ability to exceed revenue projections on two occasions in the past four quarters suggests a reliable momentum in its top-line performance.
Nu's shares experienced a robust response, climbing approximately 56.2% year-to-date, considerably outpacing the S&P 500's gain of 16.5%. This upward movement highlights investor optimism regarding the company's earnings expansion and growing footprint within the foreign banking landscape.
Looking forward, consensus projections estimate EPS at $0.16 on revenues of $4.27 billion for the upcoming quarter, while full-year forecasts are set at $0.56 on anticipated revenues of $15.22 billion. The favorable earnings outlook, paralleled with positive estimate revisions, supports its Zacks Rank of #2 (Buy), indicating potential for near-term outperformance.
In the broader sector context, the Banks - Foreign industry, to which Nu is affiliated, ranks within the top 31% of over 250 sectors tracked by Zacks. Historical patterns suggest that industries with top rankings are more likely to outperform those in the lower half, reinforcing confidence for investors monitoring Nu’s trajectory.
On another note, sector peer VersaBank (VBNK) has yet to disclose its quarterly outcomes. The bank is anticipated to announce earnings of $0.24 per share alongside $24.27 million in revenues, indicating a mixed growth outlook in contrast to Nu.
Having already delivered solid earnings and revenue growth, the focus shifts to the sustainability of Nu’s momentum and the potential influence of future earnings revisions on the stock’s trajectory.
