Tejas Crash: Disturbing Footage Unveils Final Moments

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

A haunting and unsettling video from the Dubai Airshow has emerged, illustrating the last moments before the Indian Air Force’s HAL Tejas fighter jet crashed during a display. This footage provides the clearest depiction yet of the ill-fated maneuver that resulted in the tragic death of Wing Commander Namansh Syal.

The 37-year-old pilot, renowned for his skill and bravery, was executing a low-altitude aerobatic routine at Al-Maktoum International Airport on the Airshow's final day. Commencing on November 17, the event showcased numerous aircraft, with Tejas being a standout attraction.

The recently released clip captures the aircraft as it performs a series of intricate turns before abruptly descending. Soon after, the jet crashes, impacting the ground with significant force and creating a large cloud of smoke and debris. Within moments, flames engulf the crash site, marking a tragic conclusion to what began as a standard showcase.

Just the previous day, another video featuring Wing Commander Syal had circulated, depicting him conversing with officials at the Airshow. Seen with Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, India’s Ambassador to the UAE Deepak Mittal, and other senior officials, it is uncertain when this footage was filmed during the multi-day event.

Hailing from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, Wing Commander Syal is survived by his wife—also an IAF officer—along with their six-year-old daughter and his parents. Reports suggest his family discovered the crash through social media videos shortly after the event.

This tragedy has overshadowed the concluding day of the Dubai Airshow, where the Tejas LCA was promoted as a testament to India’s indigenous aviation advancements. As investigations proceed, this newly uncovered video serves as a crucial reference, revealing insights into the aircraft’s final actions before the crash.
