The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has officially announced the unopposed re-election of Mohammed Ben Sulayem as President for another four years. This decision came after the General Assembly held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, endorsed his Presidential List, allowing him to continue leading the esteemed global motorsport and mobility federation. His return to office follows a tenure marked by significant renewal and a stable governance structure since he first took the reins in 2021.
Throughout his initial term, Mohammed Ben Sulayem championed major reforms to enhance governance, bolster internal systems, and revitalize the FIA’s financial standings. Under his stewardship, the organization transitioned from a €24 million deficit in 2021 to a remarkable operating surplus of €4.7 million in 2024, marking the best financial outcome in nearly ten years. Projections for 2025 reveal an operating result of €4.4 million, indicating sustained growth and stability.
The FIA's improved fiscal standing has enabled increased long-term investments in Member Clubs and progressive global development initiatives. Over the past four years, the organization has reinforced its audit mechanisms, enhanced budget oversight, and modernized its governance frameworks. These advancements have markedly elevated the federation's transparency, accountability, and professionalism, ensuring streamlined and effective operations.
Beyond fiscal and administrative improvements, the FIA has reinforced its international stature in both motorsport and mobility sectors. The organization has ramped up regional development efforts, intensified support for grassroots motorsport, and collaborated with international stakeholders on safety, sustainable mobility, and future transport solutions. A new commercial division was also introduced to bolster long-term development and global outreach.
Following his re-election, Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed gratitude to all FIA Members for their faith and robust engagement in the electoral process. He reaffirmed his dedication to serving the FIA, its clubs, and the wider global community, promising to prioritize progress, unity, and evolution across all domains. The election was conducted in a transparent and democratic manner, reflecting the strong collective input from the federation’s global membership.
