Meta is not stopping its hiring from OpenAI. Earlier this week, TechCrunch shared that Meta hired a well-known OpenAI researcher named Trapit Bansal. Now, The Wall Street Journal has reported that Meta has also hired three other researchers from OpenAI.
But the hiring didn’t stop there. The Information has now reported that Meta hired four more researchers from OpenAI. Their names are Shengjia Zhao, Jiahui Yu, Shuchao Bi, and Hongyu Ren.
These new hires come after Meta launched its Llama 4 AI models in April. However, these models did not work as well as Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg wanted. Some people even criticised Meta for using a version of Llama that was not right for a popular AI test.
There has been some tension between Meta and OpenAI. OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman said Meta was offering “$100 million signing bonuses” to hire top talent. But he added that none of OpenAI’s best people have left so far. Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth told employees that although senior leaders might have been offered such big money, the real offer details were more complicated than just a single bonus payment.
