Star batter Smriti Mandhana from India has ascended back to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, surpassing South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. Despite maintaining her rating at 811 points, Mandhana’s skills and consistency have solidified her status. Wolvaardt, who fell from 814 to 806 points after scoring 31 in the match against Ireland, saw her rank drop as a result.
In their series against Ireland, South Africa started strong, triumphing by seven wickets in the opening match in East London. Key contributions from Sune Luus and Miane Smit, both scoring half-centuries, helped in successfully chasing the 210-run target within 37 overs. Following this performance, Luus rose five places to joint 31st as an ODI batter and moved up ten spots to 33rd among all-rounders.
Ireland also made headway in the rankings, with Orla Prendergast ascending to 10th among all-rounders and Laura Delany climbing three places to 16th. Additionally, Prendergast improved her position among ODI bowlers, rising two spots to 34th after a 1/34 performance. Other teammates, including Arlene Kelly and Cara Murray, also made gains in the bowling rankings.
In the opener against Ireland, South African bowler Tumi Sekhukhune took two wickets and climbed seven places to 78th among ODI bowlers. The latest rankings showcase a vibrant competitive scene among female cricketers from India, South Africa, and Ireland, showcasing their outstanding displays on the pitch.
