The 2026 India Open has showcased the exceptional skills of Malaysia's leading women's doubles team, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah. They advanced to the semifinals after an impressive victory over Taiwan’s Hsieh Pei Shan and Hung En Tzu in the quarterfinals, held at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, New Delhi. The second-seeded pair displayed their prowess, clinching the match with a score of 21-16, 21-10 in a quick 33-minute contest.

With an excellent mix of teamwork and strategic gameplay, Pearly and Thinaah overwhelmed their Taiwanese opponents, executing powerful smashes and agile net play. Their semifinal matchup is set against the experienced Japanese team of Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto, renowned for their tactical acumen and swift movements.

On the men's front, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik have also advanced to the semifinals, maintaining their strong momentum in the competition. The world number two men’s doubles team faced Lee Jhe Huei and Yang Po Hsuan from Taiwan, securing a straight-sets win with scores of 21-19 and 21-14. Their solid defense and aggressive attacks were crucial in reproducing dominant rallies.

In the semifinals, Chia and Wooi Yik will meet either Taiwan’s Liu Kuang Heng and Yang Po Han or Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa and Kyohei Yamashita, both formidable opponents expected to provide a rigorous contest.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles category, Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai narrowly missed a semifinal berth, losing a tightly contested match against China’s top-seeds, Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping. The match unfolded in dramatic fashion, concluding with scores of 19-21, 21-19, and 18-21, emphasizing the fierce competitiveness of the event. Despite their exit, Goh and Lai’s determination and skill were evident throughout.
