MACC Submits Military Corruption Investigation Papers to Prosecutors

Post by : Mina Rahman

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has formally handed its investigation documents concerning senior military personnel to the public prosecutor for their assessment and next steps.

Confirmed by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, the submission includes potential charges. He mentioned that updates would be communicated following the prosecution's decisions.

This action follows recent enforcement operations where 23 individuals were apprehended during Ops Parasit and Ops Star. Among those detained were two senior officials and four high-ranking military figures.

Azam specified that the investigation focuses on suspected corruption and power misuse related to the procurement process and public funds utilization. Allegations suggest bribes were accepted from various companies involved in defense procurement.

The contracts under scrutiny are tied to the Armed Forces Welfare Fund and the Defence Ministry, which raises significant concerns due to their association with key national institutions.

Commencing on October 7, 2025, the investigation is deemed highly sensitive because of the senior roles of the individuals involved. Azam highlighted the matter's public interest, suggesting it could influence transparency, accountability, and confidence in defense governance.

Officials have reiterated their pledge to uphold the legal process, ensuring all actions comply fully with the law.
