Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) has signed an agreement with Turkey’s state-owned oil company, TPAO. This new deal will help both countries study possible oil areas under the sea.
The two companies will work together on four offshore locations. They will carry out special studies called geological and geophysical surveys. These studies help experts understand what lies beneath the ocean floor and whether there is oil or gas that can be used.
As part of the plan, a two-dimensional seismic survey will be done. This survey will cover a large area—about 10,000 kilometers in length. It will help gather data about the underwater land. The goal is to finish this part of the project and process all the collected data within 9 months.
The agreement was signed in Istanbul by the leaders of both companies. So far, no other details have been shared by the National Oil Corporation.
This partnership shows that Libya and Turkey are working together to find and develop new energy sources from the sea.
