Lebanese security forces recovered a Kuwaiti national who had been abducted earlier this month, detaining three individuals believed to be involved and confiscating the vehicle used in the crime.
The Lebanese Army reported that the Directorate of Intelligence executed the operation in Saadnayel, in the Zahle district of eastern Lebanon, following several days of targeted surveillance and tracking. The Kuwaiti citizen, reported taken on November 1, was located and returned without physical injury.
Authorities said one suspect opened fire at intelligence personnel during the arrest, prompting a controlled response from security units. Despite the exchange, officials confirmed there were no casualties. The detainees—two Lebanese nationals and one Syrian national—along with the seized vehicle, have been transferred to judicial authorities for prosecution and further inquiry.
The operation is indicative of Lebanon's stepped-up measures against organized criminality and its efforts to safeguard expatriates and visitors. Investigations are continuing to determine whether the suspects are connected to a broader abduction network.
The incident mirrors a regional trend in which rapid operational responses and coordinated intelligence work are instrumental in preventing high-profile kidnappings and strengthening public security.
