UAE President’s Endurance Cup Starts at Butheeb, Abu Dhabi

Post by : Mara Rahim

The Butheeb International Endurance Village in Al Khatm, Abu Dhabi, is the venue for the UAE President’s Endurance Cup, a key equestrian event in the region. Spanning four days from Thursday to Sunday, the championship is garnering significant interest from horse owners, riders, and equestrian enthusiasts throughout the UAE.

This prestigious event features four endurance races tailored for various rider categories. Three of these races—the Private Owners race, the Ladies race, and the Giants Cup—will each cover a distance of 100 kilometres. There’s also an open endurance race challenging competitors with a longer distance of 120 kilometres.

Organized under the aegis of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation (UAEERF), the participation of numerous stables highlights the growing enthusiasm for endurance riding in the UAE and the strong backing for equestrian sports at the national level.

Preparations were meticulously planned prior to the races. Horses set to compete in the Private Owners race underwent comprehensive veterinary checks to ensure their well-being. Riders were weighed, and final approvals for entries were conducted to align with competition guidelines and international standards.

Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of the UAEERF, emphasized the significance of the UAE President’s Endurance Cup to all those involved in the sport. He articulated that this event exemplifies appreciation and loyalty to the country's esteemed leadership for its ongoing support of athletes and sports growth.

Furthermore, he noted that endurance racing symbolizes the deep cultural ties the UAE has with horses and showcases the nation's commitment to advancing equestrian sports. The championship serves as an inspiration for riders and reinforces the UAE's status as a premier destination for endurance racing worldwide.
