Kazakh Couple Arrested for High-Tech Fraud at Sydney Casino

Authorities in Sydney have taken into custody a Kazakh couple after unveiling a sophisticated cheating scheme that allegedly netted them over Rs 7 crore (A$1.2 million) at the Crown casino. Dilnoza Israilova, 36, and her 44-year-old spouse, Alisherykhoja Israilov, who recently arrived in Australia, quickly gained a reputation as high-stakes gamblers.

Initially, their remarkable winning streak raised suspicions, but it was the discovery of a concealed camera within a Mickey Mouse T-shirt that led to their downfall. Casino security became alerted to the hidden device during one of the couple's gaming sessions.

Casino officials summoned the police to the Barangaroo venue, leading to the couple's arrest. Investigations revealed that the small camera captured live video of the card games, sending the feed directly to their smartphones. They were also in possession of hidden earpieces, enabling them to receive instantaneous betting guidance.

Further searches uncovered additional cheating apparatus—such as magnetized probes, a mobile phone mirror attachment, and various gambling contrivances. The T-shirt equipped with a camera was integral to their multiple successful gaming sessions.

When police searched their Sydney residence, they found more gambling devices, high-value jewelry, and around Rs 2 lakh (2,000 euros) in cash. Authorities believe the couple employed this illicit tactic during numerous casino visits to amass substantial winnings.

Facing charges of fraudulently acquiring financial benefits, the couple remains in custody, with Dilnoza set to appear in court this February, while Alisherykhoja is scheduled for a hearing at the Downing Centre Local Court on December 11.
