In a tragic incident in Indonesia, a passenger bus collision has resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals and left 18 others injured. The accident took place shortly after midnight on a toll road situated on the main island of Java.

The bus was en route from Jakarta, the Indonesian capital, to Yogyakarta, a city renowned for its history. A total of 34 people were aboard the bus at the time of the crash.

As the bus approached a curved exit ramp on the Krapyak toll road in Central Java's Semarang city, it lost control, collided forcefully with a concrete barrier, and subsequently tipped over onto its side.

The impact was severe, causing several passengers to be thrown from their seats while others remained trapped inside the wreckage of the bus, which sustained extensive damage.

Emergency responders, including police and rescue teams, arrived at the scene approximately 40 minutes later. They acted swiftly to assist the injured and extricate those trapped.

At the location of the crash, six individuals were confirmed dead on-site, while an additional ten succumbed to their injuries either en route to the hospital or during subsequent medical care.

The 18 injured were transported to two local hospitals for treatment.

  • Five individuals remain in critical condition

  • Thirteen others have serious injuries

Healthcare professionals are working tirelessly to save lives.

Images from the crash site show the yellow bus lying on its side, as rescue workers, police officials, and locals provided assistance while ambulances transported the injured and deceased.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the bus's loss of control. Further updates are anticipated soon.

This tragic bus incident marks one of the most severe road accidents recorded in recent times, leaving numerous families in mourning.
