Hyderabad Doctor Arrested in Probe Into Home-Based Narcotics Operation

Post by : Raina Nasser

Telangana's Excise Special Task Force has disrupted an alleged narcotics operation run from a rented apartment in Musheerabad, Hyderabad, by a postgraduate doctor.

Acting on intelligence, the STF B team conducted a search at the residence of Dr. John Paul and recovered six different high-value substances with an estimated street value of about ₹3 lakh. Seized items included OG Kush (26.95g), MDMA (6.21g), LSD (15 sticks), cocaine (1.32g), Gummus (5.80g) and a small quantity of hashish oil (0.008g).

Investigators say Dr. Paul, who is believed to have been using narcotics, became involved with the trafficking ring to finance his habit. Officials allege the flat was converted into a hub for storing consignments and dispatching drugs to clients, with supplies reportedly sourced from Delhi and Bengaluru.

Three suspected associates identified as Pramod, Sandeep and Sharath (also known as Saratulu) remain at large, and investigative teams are following active leads to locate them.

An STF official explained that the premises operated as a central distribution node, adding that Paul was reportedly permitted to consume products from the stash in lieu of payment.

The diversity and quantities of substances recovered point to an organised supply chain, underscoring concerns over the involvement of professionals in narcotics networks in Hyderabad.

Separately, Special Operations Teams uncovered a rave event in Madhapur, Rangareddy district, where 11 people were detained on suspicion of drug use and distribution. Authorities say further information will be released as inquiries proceed.

The operation forms part of an intensified crackdown by Telangana police on narcotics, with officials pledging strengthened monitoring and enforcement measures across the state.
