On Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recognized Shafali Verma for her stellar contributions to India’s Women’s World Cup triumph during a ceremony at Sant Kabir Kutir. The CM presented Shafali with a shawl, a cheque for ₹1.5 crore, and a prestigious ‘Grade A’ sports certificate.

In an encouraging speech, Saini commended Shafali's extraordinary performance and announced her role as the brand ambassador for the Haryana State Women’s Commission. He expressed immense pride in her achievements, stating they serve as motivation for budding athletes in Haryana.

Saini conveyed his message on social media, celebrating Shafali as a noteworthy daughter of Haryana and a key player in India’s World Cup victory. He congratulated her on this significant milestone.

He mentioned that the Haryana government's recognition of her accomplishments through monetary rewards and a certificate illustrates their respect for sporting talent. “This acknowledgment of ₹1.50 crore and the Grade A certificate will serve as an inspiration for aspiring athletes,” he noted.

The Chief Minister also remarked that Shafali's success has instilled a sense of pride not just in Haryana, but across the nation. “Her commitment and efforts have brought honor to both Haryana and India. She is an inspiration to all our daughters, and I wish her further success in illuminating the nation's name with her performances,” he added.

Saini emphasized the government’s ongoing initiatives to nurture young sporting talents, stating that nearly 2,000 sports nurseries have been established throughout Haryana to train children at the grassroots level.

During the event, Shafali Verma expressed her gratitude to the Haryana government for the honor and support, remarking, “Winning the World Cup has made us incredibly happy. The sporting spirit runs deep in Haryana, and the encouragement we receive is remarkable. I’m grateful for this recognition.”

Shafali, who hails from Rohtak, stepped into the India squad as a substitute before the semifinal against Australia. While she had a subdued performance in that match, she excelled in the final against South Africa, scoring 87 runs and clinching 2 wickets, leading India to a decisive World Cup victory.

Her pivotal performance entitled her the title of ‘Player of the Final,’ marking another significant achievement for Indian cricket. Shafali’s bold batting and determination have garnered admiration from teammates and fans alike.

Her journey from local cricket fields in Rohtak to international recognition has been marked with relentless dedication. Known for her bold approach and composed demeanor under pressure, Shafali continues to inspire numerous aspiring female athletes in India. Her success encourages young girls to pursue sports professionally.

Under CM Saini's guidance, Haryana has consistently nurtured world-class athletes across various sports. The recognition of Shafali Verma aligns with Haryana's mission to celebrate and empower sporting talent, particularly among women.

This event underscores the government's commitment to women’s empowerment and equal opportunities in sports. By designating Shafali as the brand ambassador for the Haryana State Women’s Commission, the aim is to inspire young girls to chase their dreams confidently.

As the celebration wrapped up, Shafali expressed her aspirations to keep representing India and achieve further success. “Winning the World Cup fulfilled a dream, but I aim to keep enhancing my performance and bring more accolades to India,” she shared cheerfully.

With an expanding portfolio of achievements and the steadfast support from her home state, Shafali Verma shines as a prominent figure in Indian cricket’s future, exemplifying the resilience and excellence intrinsic to Haryana’s sports culture.
