Abdul Rahman Ahmed Abdul Haq, a talented 19-year-old Jiu-Jitsu athlete from Baniyas Club, has made waves by securing a gold medal in the 56 kg amateur division at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is currently being held at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City.
This young champion shared that the practice of Jiu-Jitsu has significantly changed his life, instilling discipline, confidence, and mental resilience. He noted that the sport has reshaped his approach to life's challenges, whether on the mat or elsewhere, influencing his perspective on competition and personal growth.
In a post-victory interview, Abdul Rahman remarked, “Jiu-Jitsu has completely changed my life. It taught me the value of commitment and discipline. It has pushed me to face challenges with determination. Before I started, I was just a regular person, but now I feel more organized, responsible, and self-assured.”
His journey in Jiu-Jitsu began in school, fueled by the unwavering backing of the UAE's wise leadership, which promotes sports culture among students nationwide. Abdul Rahman believes that national initiatives have provided him with the opportunities and infrastructure required to excel in the sport on a global scale.

It has instilled in me patience, and respect for my opponents, and has shaped my approach to challenges with the same intensity I bring to matches.”
Looking ahead, he aspires to secure more international titles and achieve a black belt, symbolizing the pinnacle of success in Jiu-Jitsu. He dreams of elevating the UAE's presence on the global stage and inspiring his fellow Emiratis to embrace the sport.
He added, “My goal is to conquer more championships and earn my black belt. I want to honor my country by representing it and giving back for the tremendous support and opportunities I have been offered. Jiu-Jitsu is a significant aspect of my life, and I intend to continuously strive for excellence to make my nation proud.”
