Goa Nightclub Blaze: All 25 Victims Named Following Tragic Incident

Authorities have identified all 25 individuals who lost their lives in the catastrophic fire at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa. The deceased included 20 staff members and five tourists. On Sunday, families and friends congregated outside Goa Medical College as officials disclosed the names of those who perished in the early morning inferno. Among the tourists, four hailed from Delhi, with three from the same family, while the fifth was from Karnataka. The remaining victims were employees from various states and neighboring countries, including Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal.

According to police reports, the fire erupted just after midnight on Sunday, likely triggered by a suspected cylinder explosion that unleashed fierce flames within the nightclub premises located in Arpora, approximately 25 kilometers from Panaji. Eyewitnesses suggested the outbreak may have initiated on the first floor, where many patrons were dancing when smoke first became evident. Panic ensued as nearly 100 people occupied the dance floor, leading many to dash towards the lower and kitchen areas, where evacuation routes became obstructed, trapping guests and staff alike. Authorities confirmed that at least 14 of the deceased were workers, while others included local visitors and tourists.

The nightclub, a favored nightlife hub set against the Arpora backwaters, featured a narrow entry and exit, which hindered fire engine access. They were forced to halt about 400 meters away, complicating rescue operations significantly. This delay exacerbated the situation as flames spread quickly and dense smoke engulfed the venue. The severity of the fire and the limited evacuation options transformed the nightclub into a perilous trap for many.

A complete list of the deceased has been made public, comprising names such as Mohit, Pradeep Mahto, Binod Mahto, Rahul Tanti, Satish Singh, Manojit Mal, Churna Bahadur Pun, Surender Singh, Subhash Chetri, Jitendra Singh, Sumit Negi, Manish Singh, Vivek Katwal, Sabin, Sunil Kumar, Digambar Patir, Rohan Singh, Dominic, Manoj Jora, Sudeep, Ishaq, Saroj Joshi, Vinod Kumar, Anita Joshi, and Kamla Joshi. The four tourists from Delhi and one from Karnataka were confirmed as guests, while the remainder were employed at the venue.

Investigations continue to ascertain the fire's precise cause and to determine if safety regulations were breached. This disaster has prompted serious discussions about emergency response, fire safety measures, and crowd management protocols at entertainment venues throughout Goa. Many locals and visitors expressed astonishment, noting that the club consistently attracted large crowds on weekends, rendering this incident particularly heartbreaking. Rescue teams reported facing challenging circumstances due to smoke, heat, and narrow passageways.

This event ranks among Goa’s most harrowing nightclub tragedies in recent memory, leading to renewed calls for stricter safety measures. Authorities intend to issue further updates as forensic teams conclude their investigations and action is taken against those deemed responsible. The community is in mourning, with families advocating for justice and improved safety standards to avert similar catastrophes in the future. The incident underscores the urgent necessity for enhanced fire safety, improved emergency access, effective crowd control, stringent regulatory oversight, and expedited rescue processes across nightlife establishments in the region.
