The Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro Association has unveiled the Barcelona International Championship, taking place this Sunday at the La Marbella Municipal Complex, with participants from across the globe set to compete.
This single-day event will see both male and female athletes participating in various age categories—ranging from kids to masters—welcoming both amateurs and seasoned competitors.
Zaid Egleton, Operations Director of the Association, provided details regarding the official weigh-in sessions:
The competition kicks off at 10:00 am local time in Barcelona.
Winners in the professional category will earn 600 points towards the annual international ranking, plus a cash award, highlighting the event's importance and allure for elite competitors worldwide.
This championship is part of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to solidify its global presence in jiu-jitsu, reinforcing its role as a major hub for the sport through events that foster talent and competitive spirit.
The ongoing achievements of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro Association, bolstered by support from the UAE leadership, establish jiu-jitsu as a vital national sport.
In addition to cultivating competition, jiu-jitsu embodies values such as discipline, resilience, endurance, self-assurance, and focus, thereby enhancing the UAE's sports identity and solidifying Abu Dhabi’s status as a global leader in jiu-jitsu.
