Musical Tribute by Firdaus Women’s Orchestra at Expo City Dubai

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In a festive celebration of National Month and the 54th Eid Al Etihad, Dubai will host a remarkable musical event on Tuesday, December 2. The Firdaus Women’s Orchestra is set to grace the House of Arts in Expo City Dubai. This event is organized through the collaborative efforts of Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, alongside Expo City Dubai.

Conducted by esteemed Lebanese maestro Harout Fazlian, the orchestra will feature a composition titled Zayed and Rashid, inspired by selected lines from “The People and the Leader”, a poem authored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. The performance stands as a tribute to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, honoring their foundational contributions to the Union. Additionally, the program will include musical pieces reflecting the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.

Brand Dubai emphasizes that this concert underscores the values of unity and progress that have been integral to the nation, while simultaneously celebrating landmark achievements like Expo City Dubai—a beacon of the UAE’s vision and innovation. This initiative is part of a larger National Month campaign to instill national pride and deepen the community’s appreciation for its founding fathers.

The selection of the House of Arts illustrates its emerging significance as a hub for Emirati creativity. This multidisciplinary venue promotes music, performing arts, culinary culture, and various forms of artistic expression inspired by the UAE and the broader Gulf region. Its programs are crafted to narrate the UAE’s evolution from its early days as a group of seven Emirates to its present-day advancements.

The Firdaus Women’s Orchestra gained acclaim during Expo 2020 Dubai and will come together for this special occasion. Their reunion signifies a new chapter within the UAE’s cultural context, combining talent, tradition, and national spirit through an evening dedicated to celebrating the country’s narrative.

Last year, Brand Dubai unveiled the song Zayed and Rashid in conjunction with the launch of the #ZayedAndRashid campaign. This year’s performance continues this homage, illustrating the enduring legacy of the UAE’s founding leaders and the values guiding the nation's ongoing journey.
