Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, has been bestowed with the prestigious King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence, Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian award. This accolade was conferred during his official visit to the Kingdom in December 2025.

The award was granted through a Royal Decree issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class stands as the foremost national accolade in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi leaders commended Field Marshal Munir for his professionalism and strategic vision, highlighting his role in fortifying the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

In his remarks, Field Marshal Munir expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership for the honour. He emphasized that this recognition exemplifies the robust and lasting relationships binding both nations.

During his stay, Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to ensuring the security, stability, and prosperity of Saudi Arabia. He also held discussions with Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Saudi Minister of Defence.

The two leaders engaged in talks regarding mutual interests, encompassing regional security and military collaboration, alongside defense strategies and other pivotal issues. Their discussions underscored the significance of strong Pakistan-Saudi relations and a joint commitment to regional peace and stability.

This prestigious award not only acknowledges Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership and contributions but also fortifies the historic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, embodying a spirit of mutual trust and friendship.
