In an exciting finale in Thailand, Fatima Bosch from Mexico has been declared the winner of Miss Universe 2025. At 25, she became one of the focal points of this year's competition, particularly after a notable incident during a live stream where she maintained her composure despite being reprimanded by a Thai pageant director. Her dignified response captivated audiences worldwide and significantly elevated her profile.
Receiving the crown from the previous titleholder, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark, Bosch triumphed over strong contenders. The runner-up position was claimed by Thailand’s Praveenar Singh, while Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali secured third place. Notably, Ahtisa Manalo from the Philippines and Olivia Yacé of Ivory Coast completed the Top 5.
Born in Santiago de Teapa, Tabasco, Mexico, Bosch has now made history as the first woman from her region to win the Miss Universe crown. A fashion design graduate from Universidad Iberoamericana, she furthered her studies in Milan and Vermont. Her pageantry began in 2018, with her victory in the Flor de Oro pageant. Furthermore, she has candidly addressed her experiences with ADHD and dyslexia, resonating deeply with many young fans.
Leading up to the finals, Bosch faced significant scrutiny. During a live-streamed pre-event discussion, Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil criticized her for allegedly insufficient promotional activity. Although he later retracted the severity of his comments, the situation triggered a walkout by several contestants in support of Bosch, effectively amplifying her popularity among the public and positioning her as a key contender.
This year's Miss Universe saw participation from 120 contestants globally, inclusive of trailblazer Nadeen Ayoub, the first woman representing Palestine, who reached the Top 30. The event was hosted by comedian Steve Byrne and featured a lively performance from Thai singer Jeff Satur. Contestants faced various rounds, gradually moving from the Top 120 to 30, 12, and finally 5.
During the final Q&A, participants shared insights on pressing global matters and their visions to empower young girls. Bosch resonated with judges through her poignant statement: “Embrace the strength of your individuality. Your aspirations and values are important. Never allow anyone to undermine your worth.” Her authentic reply and confident demeanor ultimately earned her the crown and the admiration of a global audience.
