Fatima Bosch speaks out after Miss Universe 2025 backlash, says she received death threats

The Miss Universe 2025 pageant has turned into one of the most dramatic editions in recent memory, and the controversy continued as the newly crowned winner, Fatima Bosch of Mexico, finally addressed the intense backlash she has faced. Instead of enjoying a moment of pride after winning the crown on November 21, Fatima found herself dealing with criticism, online bullying, and even death threats.

Her win came at a time when the competition was already surrounded by chaos. Before the final night, the pageant director himself had publicly insulted her by calling her a “dumbhead.” This was followed by walkouts from several contestants and the resignations of multiple judges. Many pageant fans believed that other contestants, especially Olivia Yacé from Côte d’Ivoire, were more deserving of the title. Social media platforms filled with claims that the results were unfair and that the pageant lacked transparency. What should have been a celebration for Fatima turned into a storm of negativity.

Fatima decided to break her silence by releasing a detailed statement that described the emotional pressure and harassment she has experienced. She revealed that the criticism went far beyond simple disagreement. According to her, people sent insulting messages, hateful comments, and even death threats directed not only at her but also at her family. She explained that these attacks were deeply disturbing and could seriously affect someone’s mental well-being if they were not emotionally strong.

Fatima said she wanted to speak not just as Miss Universe, but as a woman who understands how painful online abuse can be. She questioned why anyone would wish harm on a person they have never met. She stated that while she has strong values and high self-esteem, many people around the world do not have the same emotional support. For them, such hate can leave long-lasting damage.

She shared screenshots of some of the threats she received, including messages telling her to harm herself or predicting harm to her family. Fatima said these attacks were shocking, but she refused to let them define her. She stressed that her strength, her dignity, and her love for her country were far more important than the negativity thrown at her.

In her message, Fatima also explained that violence against women does not always appear in physical form. It can come through words, insults, cyberbullying, and public humiliation. She said these forms of violence must be recognised as real and harmful. She pointed out that society often ignores or minimises this type of abuse, even though it can cause serious emotional and psychological harm.

Despite the pressure, Fatima made it clear that she will not step back or hide. She said she will continue to speak up and use her voice to support women who cannot defend themselves. She promised to use her Miss Universe crown to promote strength, resilience, and empowerment. She also criticised the idea that a woman’s success should be viewed as a threat, saying that women have every right to shine and succeed without facing hate.

Fatima ended her statement by thanking the people who supported her during the difficult days after her win. She expressed gratitude to those who sent her kind words of encouragement and said that their support gave her strength. She promised to keep advocating for women around the world and to fight for a society where no woman is attacked simply for achieving her dreams or challenging unfair expectations.

With this strong and emotional response, Fatima Bosch has shifted the conversation from pageant drama to a much bigger issue: the growing problem of online hate and the impact it has on women everywhere. Her message stands as a reminder that even in moments of victory, women often face unique challenges that require courage, dignity, and determination.
