Dubai has unveiled the latest iteration of the DXB500 Communication Training Programme designed to empower government and semi-government media representatives with advanced skills for effectively conveying the city's vision. Spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this initiative gathers 500 professionals from the public sector to engage in experiential training and international best practices in media and communication.
The programme integrates theoretical instruction with practical workshops, emphasizing storytelling, digital strategies, and innovative content development. Participants were tasked with crafting clear, compelling messages while learning to address the challenges posed by misinformation and fake news.
A standout segment featured His Excellency Faisal bin Sulaitin, CEO of the Dubai Economic Security Centre, who led a discussion on the influence of media campaigns in strengthening economic resilience. He asserted the necessity of professional media in safeguarding the economy, enhancing investor confidence, and countering adverse narratives against cities like Dubai. This session also highlighted the pivotal role of technology and AI in shaping misinformation, underscoring the urgency of public awareness initiatives to protect economic interests.
Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson of the Dubai Media Council, stated that the DXB500 initiative underscores Dubai's dedication to fostering a vibrant government communication framework. It endows national media professionals with essential tools to articulate cohesive, engaging narratives that effectively resonate with local and global audiences.
Participants experienced innovative campaigns such as the #ZayedAndRashid initiative by Brand Dubai, promoting national values through stunning storytelling, and the “Emirati Virtual Family” project by Dubai Digital, which utilized technology to connect citizens with government services. Insights from international campaigns, including the recent New York mayoral election, illustrated the significance of audience insight, concise messaging, and digital interaction.
Workshops concentrated on creative communication, storytelling, and producing short-form content suited for platforms like TikTok, enabling participants to develop campaigns tailored for engaged digital audiences. The initiative marks a strategic transition in governmental messaging—from conventional techniques to data-driven, AI-enhanced strategies that emphasize speed, transparency, and effectiveness.
Through DXB500, Dubai aspires to nurture a new cohort of media professionals adept at narrating the city’s story with accuracy, creativity, and a global view, thereby fortifying both local trust and international presence.
