Emirates NBD Achieves Top Rank in AI Banking Index for MEA Region

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Emirates NBD has achieved the top rank in the inaugural Evident AI Index for Banks in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), solidifying its status as a frontrunner among regional banks in artificial intelligence (AI) development and digital evolution.

The Evident AI Index serves as the first independent benchmark specifically designed to assess AI maturity in the banking industry. It evaluates major banks on four critical factors: Talent, Innovation, Leadership, and Transparency.

The bank took the lead among 25 prominent financial institutions spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, Israel, Egypt, and Jordan. This accomplishment underscores Emirates NBD's robust AI strategy, indicating its successful integration of AI into essential business functions rather than isolating it as a standalone initiative.

This recognition is a testament to Emirates NBD’s ongoing commitment to enhancing digital banking through transformative AI applications. The bank incorporates AI into its core business tactics, advancements in customer experiences, and workforce training programs, while also contributing to the UAE’s broader vision for AI implementation and digital innovation.

Shayne Nelson, Group Chief Executive Officer of Emirates NBD, remarked that this ranking reflects the bank's desire to spearhead innovative and consumer-centric banking solutions. He emphasized that Emirates NBD is cultivating an AI-centric culture to empower employees, boost operational efficiency, and create a seamless banking journey for customers. The bank is committed to further investing in talent, innovation, and futuristic banking technologies to fortify its leadership in the sector.

Alexandra Mousavizadeh, Co-founder and CEO of Evident, lauded the balanced approach of Emirates NBD towards AI transformation, highlighting strong performance in Talent, Innovation, and Leadership. Evident's assessment indicates that Emirates NBD boasts the highest volume of AI talent among banks in the Middle East, especially in areas like software execution and product oversight. These strategic investments are crucial as the bank amplifies and optimizes its AI solutions, significantly enhancing HR processes.

This latest accolade further cements Emirates NBD’s reputation as a pioneer in AI-driven banking, illustrating the expanding significance of artificial intelligence in revolutionizing financial services across the Middle East and Africa.
