Emirates and Air Canada have bolstered their rapidly expanding collaboration with a renewed agreement that extends until December 31, 2032. This announcement follows just three years of partnership, during which over 550,000 passengers have utilized their combined services.
The renewed commitment seeks to enhance passenger travel options, expand cargo collaboration, and explore new gateway opportunities in Canada, establishing one of the most significant transcontinental airline partnerships in the industry.
As of 2022, the codeshare network linking the two airlines has expanded to cover 56 routes, allowing travelers to connect seamlessly among Canada, the U.S., Dubai, and numerous international destinations. Emirates customers can now access 37 cities across Canada and the U.S., while Air Canada has codeshare access to 19 Emirates routes that reach the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Beyond codeshare flights, their interline agreement enables access to over 225 global destinations.
Daily flights remain pivotal in this collaboration. Air Canada operates a daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner service from Toronto to Dubai, while Emirates runs its A380 daily to Toronto and offers seven weekly flights to Montréal on the Boeing 777. This partnership is further solidified by Air Canada's relocation to Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, enhancing connection efficiency for travelers.
Cargo services are also set for substantial enhancements. Both airlines are investigating a potential joint venture focused on cargo operations, aimed at optimizing the transport of commodities. This comes in response to the burgeoning trade between Canada and the UAE; Canadian exports reached CAD $3.3 billion in 2024—a 17 percent increase from the previous year—with freight on Emirates aircraft rising 37 percent year-over-year.
With improved loyalty benefits, expanded redemption options including Premium Economy, and plans for coordinated services at Dubai World Central anticipated post-2032, this renewed partnership is well-positioned to foster tourism and trade for years to come. This decision reflects ongoing demand for robust air links among Canada, the Americas, the Middle East, and the broader Asia region—connections relied on by millions of passengers and businesses alike.
