Tragic Event on EasyJet Flight: Claims of Boarding Deceased Grandmother

Post by : Raina Nasser

A deeply unsettling incident occurred on a flight from Malaga, Spain, to London Gatwick, where a British family has been accused of boarding their 89-year-old grandmother on an EasyJet flight, despite allegations that she had passed away prior to departure.

This significant event took place on December 18, 2025. The family of five arrived at the airport with the elderly woman in a wheelchair, stating that she was fatigued and unwell.

Fellow passengers noticed that the woman appeared lifeless and slumped in her wheelchair. Some later recounted on social media that a doctor on board assessed her and concluded she had already died.

Despite these alarming observations, airport personnel permitted the woman to board, referencing a medical certificate indicating that she was fit for travel.

As preparations for take-off were underway, cabin crew detected issues with the woman and subsequently realized she had expired. The aircraft was directed back to the terminal.

Emergency responders boarded the plane and confirmed her death, leading to a substantial delay of approximately 12 hours, much to the dismay of travelers on board.

Public outcry followed, with many taking to social media to express their outrage. One traveler criticized the airline staff for permitting the woman to fly, while another mentioned that someone was supporting her head as she was guided to her seat.

Conversely, some passengers urged for compassion towards the woman and her family, recognizing the distressing nature of the experience for all involved, including the flight crew.

Spanish authorities confirmed that officers were summoned due to the woman's state, and she was pronounced dead on the aircraft. They stated she was allowed to board on the basis of her medical documentation and received assistance during transit.

The airline maintained that the woman was alive at the time of boarding and that the flight was reversed when a passenger required urgent medical attention. They also expressed their support for the family involved and thanked passengers for their understanding.

As of now, the family has yet to address the allegations.

This distressing EasyJet incident raises critical concerns regarding medical assessments prior to flights and the procedures for managing such delicate situations at airports.
