DWTC Free Zone Collaborates with DHL to Empower SMEs Globally

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) Free Zone has entered into a significant collaboration with DHL Express, a global leader in logistics, intended to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their international reach.

This partnership is set to bolster the DWTC Free Zone's business ecosystem by delivering essential support, expert knowledge, and global trade opportunities for these enterprises. The initiative seeks to enhance operational competencies, foster resilience, and unlock access to various international markets.

Central to this collaboration is DHL’s GoTrade programme, which aims to back SMEs with training, knowledge dissemination, and capacity enhancement. This program will provide export-ready businesses with specialized guidance to navigate international trade and cross-border activities successfully.

The formalization of this agreement took place during a ceremony at the DHL Express UAE Office in Dubai, attended by key figures including Mahmoud Haj Hussain, the Managing Director of DHL Express UAE, and Abdalla Al Banna, Vice President of Free Zone Regulatory Operations at DWTC Free Zone.

In discussing the partnership, Abdalla Al Banna highlighted the pivotal role of Dubai’s SME sector in driving the emirate's economic vitality and its essential contribution to the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. He stressed DWTC Free Zone's commitment to facilitating business growth beyond local markets by offering infrastructure, networking opportunities, and expert insights.

He further noted that the collaboration with DHL Express injects valuable resources into the Free Zone community via the GoTrade programme, helping businesses cultivate skills necessary for international trade and expansion. This initiative aligns with DWTC Free Zone’s vision of fostering a dynamic, competitive business landscape conducive to innovation and long-term economic progress in Dubai.

The DWTC Free Zone will facilitate access to the DHL GoTrade programme for its network of over 2,500 enterprises operating across various sectors. These companies are located in some of Dubai's most prestigious commercial hubs within the city’s Central Business District.

Participants in the programme will benefit from complimentary expert-led training with no barriers to entry. The inclusive curriculum offers 14 interactive modules that focus on crucial business domains including logistics, international trade regulations, customs, e-commerce, customer experience management, and financial strategies.

Mahmoud Haj Hussain remarked that while the landscape of international trade has become increasingly accessible, many SMEs continue to encounter obstacles in their global endeavors. He reiterated that DHL Express not only functions as a logistics provider but also as a vital growth ally, linking businesses with international prospects through its expansive network and trade acumen.

He added that the GoTrade programme empowers entrepreneurs and SMEs with essential knowledge regarding international shipping, customs operations, e-commerce, and cross-border transactions, thereby enhancing their confidence and capability to compete effectively on the world stage.

This partnership also establishes a framework for ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing between DWTC Free Zone and DHL Express. Both organizations aspire to develop additional SME-focused initiatives aimed at fostering business growth and innovation.

This collaboration with DHL Express marks the latest in a series of strategic partnerships by DWTC Free Zone designed to offer enhanced support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established enterprises operating within the Free Zone.

As one of the region's premier business destinations, DWTC Free Zone offers 100 percent foreign ownership, no personal income tax, and over 1,200 licensed business activities for companies aiming to establish and expand their international footprint.
