Grand Tribute in Dubai Commemorates Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In a notable tribute marking this year’s National Month, Dubai has revealed a stunning installation honoring the Founding Fathers of the UAE. Collaborating with Dubai Municipality, Brand Dubai has fashioned a massive ground artwork showcasing the combined portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Situated at the roundabout across from Dubai Frame, near the junction of Sheikh Zayed Road and Zabeel Park, the artwork spans an impressive diameter of 82 metres. Utilizing multi-hued gravel meticulously arranged, the portrait is fully visible from an aerial perspective, marking a distinctive visual feature introduced for the festivities.

This installation is a key component of the second edition of the #ZayedAndRashid campaign, designed to emphasize the enduring values and legacy of these pivotal leaders. Their collaboration and united vision continue to be integral to the UAE’s growth narrative, with the artwork serving as a reminder for both visitors and residents about the foundations of the nation.

The chosen location near Dubai Frame symbolizes the convergence of the UAE’s rich heritage and contemporary achievements. Specialised insulating materials were employed to uphold the stability of the gravel, ensuring its clarity and detail are preserved over time. The circular design presents a striking aerial representation that complements the city’s urban landscape.

As part of National Month, this initiative introduces a new visual element to the city, merging artistic expression with national pride. It aims to encourage future generations and reaffirm the values of unity, ambition, and determination that have shaped the country since its inception.
