A well-known diabetologist, Dr Brijmohan Arora, has shared a simple but powerful tip for better health: take a 15-minute walk after eating. He says this small habit can help bring down blood sugar levels quickly and improve overall wellness. His message is easy to understand and useful for people of all ages, especially those dealing with diabetes or high sugar levels.
Dr Arora, who has more than 24 years of medical experience, recently posted on Instagram about how a short walk can make a big difference. In his video, he showed his own glucose reading. His blood sugar dropped from 107 mg/dL to 96 mg/dL in just 15 minutes of walking in the sun during a simple market visit. He used a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) to track this change in real time.
He said that CGM helps people see the truth about what really works. He explained that the biggest improvements do not come from fancy pills, strict diets, or so-called “magic foods.” Instead, the most helpful tool is basic movement. He said that when a person walks, their muscles begin to work like sponges. These muscles pull sugar out of the bloodstream and use it for energy. This helps reduce sugar levels without much effort.
Dr Arora explained that walking is one of the strongest and safest ways to support metabolic health. It works for people with diabetes, those who have prediabetes, and even for those who struggle with insulin resistance. He described walking as cheap, safe, effective, and often ignored, even though it can make a big difference in daily life.
He advised people to pay attention to their glucose patterns. If someone notices that their CGM readings are always high, or their HbA1c levels are rising, or if they see more fat around their stomach, he suggests starting with the most basic step: walk every day. This small change can bring long-term benefits.
Many people feel tired or sleepy after a meal and prefer to rest. However, Dr Arora’s message encourages them to move instead. A short walk not only helps manage sugar levels but also boosts metabolism, improves digestion, and makes the body feel more active. It is a simple habit that can fit into anyone’s lifestyle, whether they are busy with work, school, or daily tasks.
This advice is especially useful today when many people work long hours at desks or spend too much time sitting. A daily 15-minute walk is easy to start and does not require special equipment, a gym membership, or strict planning. It can be done at home, in a park, or even at a market, as Dr Arora demonstrated.
His message is a reminder that small actions can lead to big health improvements. Instead of looking for complicated solutions, people can choose simple habits that are easy to follow and highly effective.
