Kapil Sharma's Cafe Shooting Tied to Bishnoi Gang: Delhi Police Investigation

Post by : Raina Nasser

In a significant development, Delhi Police have identified two suspects behind a series of attacks on actor-comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe located in Canada. The accused, known as Sharry (Gurjot) and Daljot Rehal, have alleged connections to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The inquiry intensified following the apprehension of Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon, who was arrested by Delhi Police last month for his involvement in the shootings outside Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada. Singh is suspected of having supplied weapons and logistical assistance to Sharry and Daljot, responsible for multiple attacks since the cafe's opening in July 2025.

Kap’s Cafe, inaugurated by Kapil Sharma in British Columbia in July, has faced deliberate assaults on July 10, August 7, and October 16. Authorities disclosed that Singh provided arms and a vehicle to Goldy Dhillon, a close affiliate of the Bishnoi gang, at the behest of another gangster recognized as Sonu Khatri, or Rajesh. The shootings were executed under the orders of an alleged gang member known as Seepu.

Delhi Police have uncovered an international dimension to the case. Reports suggest Bandhu Maan Singh holds connections with Pakistan-based gangster Harry Chatha, who is involved in the arms smuggling operations into India. It’s been indicated that Chatha receives guidance from Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), while Singh is believed to have facilitated the process of smuggling weapons from Pakistan. Singh returned to India from Canada on August 23 and was subsequently taken into custody in Ludhiana at the end of November.

The identification of the shooters and their link to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has escalated the investigation further. Central authorities are now collaborating with Canadian officials to track down those connected to these incidents. The alarming series of attacks on Kap’s Cafe has created panic among its patrons and staff, raising grave concerns regarding international criminal organizations targeting high-profile businesses.

During the inaugural attack on July 10, a minimum of ten rounds were discharged at the cafe, posing a threat to employees inside. The second incident on August 28 saw over 25 rounds fired, accompanied by threats of further actions in Mumbai if certain demands were not met. Following this second attack, security measures for Kapil Sharma were heightened. The most recent incident on October 16 witnessed a shooter firing twelve rounds from a moving vehicle, underscoring the boldness and ongoing threat posed by these criminals.

The unfolding investigation underscores the increasing reach of organized crime across borders, linking local Indian gangs with international networks and smuggling operations. Authorities are committed to ensuring safety in high-profile venues while pursuing justice against the shooters and those orchestrating these violent acts.
