Delhi Man Captured 15 Years Post-Wife's Murder Amid Deception

Post by : Raina Nasser

In an astonishing turn of events, the Delhi Police have apprehended Narottam Prasad, a suspect in the murder of his wife 15 years ago, who had attempted to pass off the crime as a suicide. Traced to Gujarat, he was brought back to Delhi where legal actions are now unfolding.

The tragic incident traces back to May 31, 2010, when authorities uncovered the decomposing body of a 25-year-old woman in her home in Jahangirpuri. Initially, the discovery of a suicide note misled the investigation, suggesting self-harm. However, early indications pointed towards the husband, Narottam Prasad, who had fled and was declared a proclaimed offender. A reward of Rs 10,000 was announced for tips leading to his arrest.

After years on the run, a tip in 2025 directed police to Vadodara, Gujarat. Responding promptly, the Delhi Police tracked Prasad to the Chhota Udaipur region, where he had been living incognito, working as a manager in a cotton factory.

Under interrogation, Prasad admitted that marital conflicts had arisen soon after their wedding. In a fit of rage, he ended his wife’s life and fabricated a suicide note to mislead law enforcement.

This arrest not only provides closure to one of Delhi’s oldest cold cases but also highlights the unyielding efforts of police to ensure justice prevails, even over time. Officials have stated that Prasad will now undergo complete legal scrutiny as per the law.

Furthermore, this case serves as an important reminder of the dogged persistence of investigative units in resolving protracted criminal cases.
