Dubai Aerospace Enterprise Leases Two Boeing 737-8 Jets to Somon Air

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has officially confirmed an agreement to lease two Boeing 737-8 aircraft to Somon Air, Tajikistan’s flagship airline. These jets are expected to be delivered in 2026, marking a significant partnership between DAE and Somon Air.

This arrangement highlights the rising demand in emerging markets for fuel-efficient narrowbody aircraft as airlines aim to broaden their networks while minimizing operational expenses. The Boeing 737-8, recognized for its superior fuel efficiency and extended range compared to older variants, stands out as a prime choice for modernizing fleets.

Firoz Tarapore, DAE's Chief Executive Officer, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Somon Air. He emphasized DAE's commitment to facilitating the airline’s expansion and nurturing a long-lasting collaboration.

Somon Air's CEO, Abdulkosim Valiev, remarked that the acquisition of these new aircraft will empower the airline to extend its route offerings, enhance operational efficacy, and solidify its business strategies. The airline continues to develop its regional and international reach with an emphasis on efficient, state-of-the-art aircraft.

DAE stands as one of the leading global aircraft leasing entities, currently overseeing, managing, or having commitments for approximately 750 aircraft, including 237 Boeing models. The company aims to broaden its fleet as airlines globally favor leasing modern aircraft over direct purchases.
