New Developments in Maharashtra Doctor Suicide Case Spark Controversy

Post by : Raina Nasser

New allegations have surfaced in the Maharashtra doctor suicide case, as Bhagyashree Pachangne charges that her daughter’s postmortem report was intentionally altered under pressure. The tragedy surrounding the doctor, who tragically took her own life, raises dark questions about possible corruption and misuse of authority within Maharashtra’s medical and law enforcement sectors.

Deepali Maruti's mother claims her daughter did not die by suicide as suggested. Instead, she suspects involvement from her son-in-law, Ajinkya Hanmant Nimbalkar, who serves in the Indian Army, along with his relatives. The narrative has shifted dramatically since Deepali’s death on August 19, as her family now believes she was a victim of murder rather than suicide, suffering ongoing physical and emotional abuse prior to her tragic end.

Bhagyashree shared her anguish over the postmortem report received nearly a month post-death, stating it seemed entirely fabricated. She contends that the doctor who later ended her life was coerced into signing this report by influential associates of the accused. “My daughter was a brave and loving mother. I refuse to believe she ended her life; she was murdered, and the truth has been obscured,” expressed Bhagyashree, her grief palpable.

Shocking details also emerged from a suicide note written on the deceased doctor’s palm, accusing police sub-inspector Gopal Badane of sexual assault, while also naming software engineer Prashant Bankar as a source of relentless mental torment. The doctor also referenced a former MP in a lengthy suicide letter, asserting that political pressure compelled her to falsely deem an accused named Malhari Channe as medically fit. This revelation has ignited significant political backlash, with opposition parties accusing the state government of protecting powerful individuals.

A relative shared with the Press Trust of India that the doctor had repeatedly been coerced by “political figures in Phaltan” to manipulate medical documentation. “She voiced her concerns about PSI Badane multiple times, but no action was taken,” the relative noted, illustrating the mounting distress the doctor faced. The case has evolved into a stark representation of how intimidation and authority can wreak havoc on lives.

Meanwhile, the police have taken action against the accused, arresting Prashant Bankar for mental harassment and suspending PSI Gopal Badane, who has surrendered following allegations of rape. Authorities have initiated a case regarding both rape and abetment of suicide against the implicated men. The community's demand for a thorough and impartial investigation continues to grow, seeking justice for both the doctor and Deepali.

Bhagyashree Pachangne’s call for truth has touched hearts across Maharashtra, her words rich with pain and determination emphasizing that no mother should endure this struggle alone. “My daughter was six months pregnant, with a small child to care for. We must fight for justice,” she asserted tearfully.

The unfolding events of the Maharashtra doctor suicide case are being closely monitored across the state. Will justice be served, or will this incident be yet another tragedy hidden by fear and influence? For the moment, Bhagyashree’s plight symbolizes the few courageous voices standing against power, demanding truth and accountability amidst deep-seated corruption.
