In a stunning move during the IPL 2026 mini auction, Kolkata Knight Riders acquired Cameron Green for a remarkable ₹25.2 crore, establishing him as the highest-paid overseas player in IPL history, eclipsing the former record held by Mitchell Starc at ₹24.75 crore.
The auction saw intense bidding wars, with Mumbai Indians starting at Green's base price of ₹2 crore but withdrawing soon after due to budget restrictions. Although Rajasthan Royals expressed interest, it was KKR, armed with the most substantial funds, that emerged victorious. Chennai Super Kings attempted to intervene with a bid of ₹25 crore, yet the Knight Riders completed the acquisition at ₹25.2 crore.
Following the updated IPL protocols, Green will receive ₹18 crore, while ₹7.2 crore will be allocated towards player welfare programs. A seasoned IPL player, having been with MI in 2023 and RCB in 2024, Green's record-setting auction price underscores his high demand within the league.
