A troubling case has emerged from Faridkot, Punjab, where Rupinder Kaur, a woman recently deported from Canada, was arrested on suspicion of murdering her husband in collusion with her lover. Initially, she misled investigators by alleging that her husband, Gurvinder Singh, died during a robbery at their home.
On the night of November 28, authorities received an urgent call from Rupinder, claiming that intruders had invaded her house and killed her husband. However, the police soon uncovered discrepancies in her story. During interrogation, Rupinder admitted that she and her lover, Harkanwalpreet Singh, orchestrated the murder after Gurvinder found out about their illicit relationship. The couple reportedly strangled Gurvinder and fabricated the robbery story to divert suspicion from themselves.
Sources indicate that both Rupinder and Harkanwalpreet had been deported from Canada, with Harkanwalpreet returning to India in 2018. Rupinder’s reappearance in Punjab earlier this year reignited their secret romance, which allegedly started while they were still overseas, possibly through an online platform. This affair ultimately provided the motive for the crime, according to police statements.
A formal complaint was lodged at the Sadar Police Station following a report from Manveer Kaur, the victim’s sister. Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, mentioned during a press briefing that initial findings confirmed the murder was motivated by the love affair. Both Rupinder and Harkanwalpreet have been interrogated, with the investigation continuing as authorities seek more information on the case.
This alarming incident brings to light the risks involved when personal disputes escalate into violence, emphasizing the need for thorough police investigations into domestic crimes. Faridkot police are diligently pursuing the case, ensuring that both suspects face the law’s full repercussions.
The shocking nature of this story has garnered significant attention, particularly given the involvement of individuals previously deported from Canada, raising concerns about monitoring criminal activities and domestic safety within the community.
