Sunwing Vacations and WestJet Vacations have declared a halt on all operations to Cuba, effective until October 2026, driven by a severe fuel crisis impacting travel and tourism on the island.

The companies disclosed that all flights and holiday packages to Cuba will be canceled from June 20 through October 9, primarily impacting renowned tourist spots like Varadero and Cayo Coco, which are top choices for travelers from Canada.

This decision arises as Cuba grapples with critical shortages of gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, leading to widespread power outages and essential service disruptions throughout the country.
