Air Arabia Initiates Direct Service from Sharjah to Krabi, Thailand

Post by : Mara Rahim

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently celebrated the inaugural flight of Air Arabia’s direct connection from Sharjah, UAE, to Krabi, Thailand. Designed to enhance tourism from the Middle East to southern Thailand, this route opens up new travel options ahead of the holiday season. The flight, which will depart Sharjah on November 28, 2025, and reach Krabi the following day, aims to provide easier access to Thailand for travelers from the Middle East and North Africa, beyond just Bangkok and the popular Phuket.

With the introduction of this route, Air Arabia anticipates an addition of around 5,220 seats each month. This growth not only introduces more opportunities for holidaymakers to explore Thailand’s stunning beaches and rich cultural heritage but also ensures significant economic contributions. High-ranking officials from TAT, such as Sasithorn Kittidhrakul, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior, and Angkul Seelatewakul, Governor of Krabi Province, were present to witness the flight's welcome event. This launch is part of TAT’s Airline Focus Strategy, aimed at attracting affluent and discerning travelers from the Middle East interested in luxury and wellness experiences.

The increasing interest from the Middle Eastern tourism market presents immense opportunities for Thailand. Tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, have played a vital role in boosting visitor numbers. From January to November 2025, Thailand hosted 728,340 tourists from the region, who typically spent around 100,000 baht and stayed for an average of 10 days. TAT forecasts that with the new Sharjah-Krabi service, visitor numbers from the Middle East could hit 850,000 by year-end.

This new flight not only enhances tourism but also promises substantial economic benefits for Krabi’s local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and wellness services. Increased tourism is expected to spur job creation and attract further investment, in line with TAT’s principle of “Value over Volume”, which emphasizes sustainable growth over sheer visitor numbers.

In addition, this service aligns with Thailand’s BCG economy initiative (Bio-Circular-Green), promoting sustainable tourism development. By advocating for responsible travel practices, Thailand aims to solidify its reputation as a premier global travel destination. The Sharjah-Krabi connection signifies confidence in the country's tourism infrastructure and service excellence suitable for international travelers.

Establishing a direct link from the Middle East to southern Thailand further reinforces the nation’s status as a premier hub for quality tourism, diversifying its offerings and reiterating its commitment to capturing high-value visitors from the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. This new route is predicted to bolster Thailand’s economy, support local business growth, and foster sustainable tourism frameworks that align economic goals with environmental and social needs.

In summary, the Air Arabia direct flight from Sharjah to Krabi marks a significant development in the tourism landscape of Thailand. It not only facilitates travel for visitors but also fosters local economic growth and enhances Thailand's standing as a top destination for luxury, wellness, and family experiences from the Middle East. TAT's dedication to attracting high-quality tourists ensures that the tourism sector develops responsibly and sustainably, bringing benefits to both travelers and local communities.
