4.6-Magnitude Quake Off Musandam Sends Light Tremors into UAE; No Damage Reported

Post by : Raina Nasser

On 4 November 2025 at approximately 4:40pm UAE time, a seismic event measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was recorded off southern Musandam, Oman. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported the quake originated at a shallow depth of about 5 kilometres and generated perceptible shaking in northern and eastern areas of the UAE.

Local officials confirmed there were no fatalities, injuries or structural damage following the tremor. While residents reported brief unsettling movement, essential services and daily routines were not interrupted.

Eyewitness footage and firsthand accounts circulated on social media as people described a sudden jolt. Public reaction was largely one of surprise and curiosity, reflecting the short duration and limited intensity of the event.

Although the UAE sits in a generally low seismic-risk zone, proximity to the Zagros fault system — extending through southern Iran and Oman — means occasional shallow offshore quakes can be felt in the country’s northern and eastern emirates. The NCM continues to operate a real-time monitoring network to alert authorities and the public to seismic occurrences.

By evening, conditions had stabilised and experts reiterated that low-magnitude tremors of this type are typically non-threatening, while underlining the value of public awareness and preparedness measures for seismic incidents.

In summary, the 4.6-magnitude quake off Musandam produced short-lived tremors across parts of the UAE but did not result in casualties or damage, according to official sources.
