On Tuesday at 3:15 p.m., Ottawa police were alerted to a hate-driven assault at the Billings Bridge OC Transpo station as the evening rush began.
Responding officers found three youths using derogatory language against their victims, which quickly turned into a physical altercation. Although two conducted energy weapons were displayed, they were not utilized.
A courageous bystander attempted to assist the victims and was subsequently threatened with one of the weapons.
The three youths were arrested on various charges, including assault, making threats, and weapon-related offenses. Their identities remain confidential under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The Ottawa police expressed gratitude to the witness for their intervention and urged the community to report any hate-fueled incidents.
