Andrew Tate's Reaction to Wiz Khalifa's Drug Sentence in Romania

Post by : Mara Rahim

Andrew Tate, a controversial figure on social media, commented on the recent sentencing of rapper Wiz Khalifa to nine months in a Romanian prison for drug possession. On X, Tate quipped, "Romanians now trying to throw Wiz Khalifa in jail. Come see me @wizkhalifa I know how to get better blankets and pillows."

Wiz Khalifa, whose birth name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, was apprehended in July 2024 after he was seen smoking a joint during his performance at the Beach Please! Festival in Costinești, Romania. This incident took place while he was singing Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's hit, 'The Next Episode.' Under Romanian law, which is notably stringent regarding illegal drugs, Khalifa was convicted of "unlawful possession of dangerous drugs for personal use." He later expressed remorse on social media, clarifying that he didn't mean to offend Romania and vowed to refrain from smoking on stage in the future.

Previously, Khalifa had received a fine of approximately $830 for this incident in April 2025. However, prosecutors contested this penalty. Consequently, the Constanța Court of Appeal nullified the fine and imposed a nine-month jail term, indicating that his behavior could promote drug use among younger fans. Khalifa's team is challenging this decision, and it remains uncertain if the rapper, who is a US citizen and currently outside of Romania, will serve time.

Tate himself has faced severe allegations, such as rape, human trafficking, and creating a criminal organization for the exploitation of women. Together with his brother Tristan Tate and two Romanian women, he is charged with recruiting women under false pretenses and coercing them into producing explicit content. The Tate brothers refute all accusations, suggesting that the case is an attempt to confiscate their assets.

In addition, Tate is confronting 21 criminal charges in the UK, relating to rape and assault. He is recognized for his contentious views towards women and the promotion of an ultra-masculine lifestyle, leading to his bans from various social media platforms. His polarizing online persona has triggered discussions regarding the impact of toxic masculinity on young people.
