The UAE's Ministry of Defence reported on May 8, 2026, that the country’s air defence systems expertly intercepted two ballistic missiles and three drones launched from Iran. This assault led to three moderate injuries among civilians.

This event marks yet another episode in a series of Iranian attacks targeting the UAE, with defence systems having successfully intercepted a staggering total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 drones since the conflict escalated.

The ministry further noted that the ongoing situation has resulted in 230 recorded injuries among various nationalities including Emirati, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Egyptian, Filipino, Sudanese, Sri Lankan, Nepali, Jordanian, Palestinian, Moroccan, and Russian.

Tragically, the count of martyrs has increased to three, inclusive of a Moroccan civilian contractor affiliated with the armed forces. Civilian fatalities now stand at 10, with victims hailing from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine, and Egypt.

In response, the Ministry of Defence affirmed that the UAE remains steadfast in its preparedness to confront any threats to national security and stability. Authorities assured that comprehensive measures are in place to safeguard the sovereignty and well-being of citizens, residents, and critical infrastructure amidst the rising tensions in the region.
